A number of people have interpreted this to imply that guest blogging is dead. While I disagree with this statement, I do believe that spammy guest blogging is dead. It is commonly known that in order to appear high in the search engine ranking, you must have postings of excellent quality.
Is it worth your time to guest blog? Provided the site you’re blogging on has value to your community and you’re providing unique quality posts, the answer is yes. As a blogger, there are more effective ways to build and engage your community than stranger search traffic.
- Choose a blog site that is of value to your loyal followers. Select carefully, as the site you guest blog on can build up or destroy your reputation as a blogger.
- The owner of the site will usually promote your guest post on their social media channels. Take into consideration the size of the blog owners’ social networks and ask how they promote guest blog posts.
- Follow and engage with the owner of the blog on social media sites. They’re more likely to enthusiastically promote your blog if you’re connected.
As a blogger, you should be concentrating your efforts on building your community, rather than pursuing traffic that may or may not convert.
